Netflix has revealed that it will begin accepting applications for a reality show based on its most popular show, Squid Game.
The South Korean drama series follows a group of people on heavy debt as they compete in a dangerous series of kids games for a large cash reward.
It is Netflix’s most-watched series of all time, with 111 million people watching it in the first 28 days of its release.
The game would not be life threatening, as represented in the television drama, but rather 456 participants from across the world will compete in activities where “the very worst misfortune is going back home empty-handed” – losing out on a $4.56 million (£3.8 million) prize.
Early this week, Netflix revealed that the famous comedy will be revived for a season 2.
The platform stated on Wednesday, June 15, that its forthcoming 10-episode show, Squid Game: The Contest, will have the “biggest cast and huge cash reward in reality Television history.”
“As [players] participate in a variety of games based by the actual program – plus some fascinating new features – their plans, friendships, and personality would be truly tested as contestants are removed around them,” the statement continued.
Candidates must be at least 21 years old to participate. They must know how to be able to communicate in English and be ready for shooting for up to four weeks in early 2023.
